There’s an HIV/AIDS crisis in Brooklyn.
While HIV/AIDS deaths have dropped dramatically across NYC in the past decade, it remains a significant problem in Brooklyn where:
26,040 people were living with HIV/AIDS as of December 2008.
Brooklyn of all the boroughs, had both the largest number of new HIV infections in 2008 with 1,027 (27%) and the largest number of people newly diagnosed with AIDS at 803 (25.7%)
Today, at 12pm, in support of Our Watchful Eye’s Red Ribbon Revitalization campaign, we’re participating in a rally to empower those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to share their healing and recovery and to give out our “thought cards” which provides information on HIV/AIDS prevention and a comprehensive sexuality education program in public schools. Come join us!
